PALMDALE, Calif. — A person trying to steal a catalytic converter from a parked SUV in Southern California was run over and killed when the car’s sleeping driver woke up and began to drive away, authorities stated.
The loss of life occurred Tuesday night in a retail car parking zone in Palmdale, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Division stated in a press release.
Arriving deputies discovered a Ford Excursion partially backed out of a parking stall, a person mendacity on the bottom and a smaller car within the subsequent parking stall.
The division stated the Excursion driver was asleep when the smaller car pulled up and one of many 4 folks inside obtained out and commenced sawing the catalytic converter off the Ford.
“The sufferer awakened from the sound, turned the automobile on, put the car in reverse, and felt a bump like she ran one thing over,” the division stated. “She stopped instantly, leaving the suspect on the bottom after working him over.”
